I am having an issue with the game, it runs but the sound is all choppy and the game runs super slow. I am using an Alienware M14x with Windows7 64, I have 12Gb Ram and I7 3820 running at 2.70Ghz. Also it doesn't want to go fullscreen and operates in a window which is by my guess 800x600 or slightly higher. I have downloaded both 32 and 64 versions and both behave the same, I have also tried running in administrator or xp compatibility. I hope there is an easy fix or something I'm doing wrong as I really want to play it.
Hi Wolf thanks for getting back to me, there is no overlay or pop-up and I have alt tabbed to check it keeps stuttering. I don't know why would it have something to do with CPU compatibility?
well, i looked at the specs of the alienware M14x, and the GT-555M graphics card might not be powerful enough. so i'll probably have to dial back a few things here and there some more to get smooth framerates. for comparison, GTX-860M is what i have on my lenovo.
I have the GT-650M with 2GB DDR dedicated, but using 5GB shared. It can handle most games I have including Skyrim and Fallout4. I thought It would have been sufficient for the unreal engine. But maybe not. Anyhow..... If you can change any gfx settings by console or script please let me know.
I can tell you what's likely going on; check to make sure that your nVidia Control Panel has the .exe listed in it, otherwise it's probably trying to use the Intel chip, which is woefully underpowered. Right click on the nVidia Control Panel, then go to "Manage 3D Settings" then click the Program Settings tab. Navigate to the .EXE, select it, and you should be set.
That said, even if you CAN run Skyrim/Fallout 4 on a 650m you likely shouldn't. I had the M17x prior to my current machine, and found that even on Med., Dragon Age Inquisition would make it chug. Some Unity games also made it cry. As they get more "shiny" the 650m will be unable to play.
Hello I am Pablo Garcia and I love the idea of this game I like Castevania games and it is a nostalgic game I would like to help you to finish this game I am a 3D Artist I will share with you my contacts. if you need me please don´t hesitate in ask
btw i found and fixed the "stuck in wall" bug, it was the camera getting stuck and refusing to move because there was 2 overlapping camerasetters. going to do code that will prevent the bats from moving through walls, and i think the candles might be causing FPS issues as well, although i don't have a bad enough computer to test this on. also the slow-ass time countdown is because i forgot to multiply the counter with delta time.
heheh, well the bat is the easiest boss in the original game, later bosses like frankenstein on level 4 and the grim reaper are insanely hard. also i might have to fine tune the batboss a bit though, could be he's swooping a bit too fast currently.
and i'll probably expand the hitbox of the tiny bats, currently they're dodging your whip pretty gracefully.
and that ghoul wandering around in the darkness in the brick area is a bug as well. i need to put in code that despawns enemies once you reach certain areas. the original really gets hard on level 3 though, with little "fleamen/hunchbacks" causing quite some pain.
I know the old game didn't have a save feature, but will you be adding one to yours? Also if that's the easiest boss I'm going to need Jesus for the others haha but don't make it to easy now, I was still able to kill him with the right weapon. Keep up the great job man.
i'm thinking of having a save system that's at least in the spirit of the old game, where it'll save what level you're on. that way you don't have to leave your computer on to retry that level giving you pain.
Thank you so much, awesome work. Better than anything Konami would even try to do :D I sure hope there will be no DMCA, if so consider using the Tor Browser to host this website and upload your work to a torrent site. In this way the DMCA can't touch you. Especially on Tor.
Eu realmente apreciei o projeto, e o que eu curti bastante é a ideia da física que você impôs no jogo. Digo, quando o personagem cai de uma determinada altura ele alivia a queda pondo as mãos no chão. Os efeitos de luz estão muito bons também!
Having grown up on the OG Castlevania, this remake brings back all those memories.
It's definitely not without its flaws. I couldn't figure out any of the attack buttons on the XB1 controller, my character froze several times, & the animations do need a little more work on.
Overall, it's still an enjoyable experience. I hope you can perfect it and release the entire game in the Unreal engine!
yeah, it looks like you also played the older version, i did an update over the weekend, which has xbox controller support, some improvements to the whipping (although it's still far from perfect) and improvements to the staircase code.
update next weekend, i'll see if i can iron out all of the whip issues, and put up a pause menu control scheme.
I ran into a couple problems it seems. It seems like every once in a while, the whip won't work at all for about 3 seconds while I'm pressing the button. It also feels like there's a frame rate drop once I entered the castle. Maybe speed up the whipping animation just slightly as well.
Hi, im developer. I have a limited time because my full time job, but i can give you a hand in free time too with some tasks. if you are interested contact me. I would be very excited to take part of this big adventure :D
Edited: I've realized that is not possible to send private messages :S (i've only registered to download this) so just tell me and i contact you by some channel you posted before ;)
If you kickstarted that I'm sure it would get funded. SOTN is one of the most beloved castlevania games and people are hungry for more. I would personally contribute as much as I could.
Hey, it is amazing! It is in the same pace as the original, but the art composition passes a feel close to that sensation at the comings of the firsts 3d games in that time. I think the feel at now is that is so realistic, graces to the engine! Great job!

yeah it's only set to run in windowed mode currently. make sure there is nothing overlaying the window like popup dialogs and such,
or it'll stutter. i'll look into a fullscreen mode.

You ROCK, incredible work. Had so much fun playing and the graphics OMG.
"
fun? sounded like you were about to strangle someone because of all the bugs and framerate issues.

hahaha but I still had fun man, but that boss was a pain lol dam that big ass bat!!!
heheh, well the bat is the easiest boss in the original game, later bosses like frankenstein on level 4 and the grim reaper are insanely hard. also i might have to fine tune the batboss a bit though, could be he's swooping a bit too fast currently.

Can you compile this for linux?
Compiling For Linux
sort of mired in getting it to work properly on windoze. maybe after i finish level 1 and 2 and they work flawlessly.
I unzipped the file but it still won't let me play it. It shows up as a .rar file. Is there a program I need to download to play it?
no you did not unzip the file. you need to download winrar, a file compression program.
from here: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
install that, then unzip the file.
i guess i could just use winzip, since it's implemented in windows by default, but then the download size will be an extra 100mb
7-Zip ???
This game was surprisingly interesting and you can easily tell lots of work went into it!
I had lots of fun playing but wasn't able to beat the boss! Also i recommend everyone to try this game out! :)

Incredible work!! Congratulations!!
I upload & delete, & keep trying, cuz it wont play my........
what?
Any word of a Mac version?
looks like it's currently not supported for mac.
But will there be support for it though? Cause I'm curious about trying it out on my Mac.
as soon as unreal engine supports building mac on windows i'll build a mac version.
ok
Wow this game looks so good, you put so much hard work into this, I really enjoyed playing this :D
I'm on Windows 32 bits and it says I need 64 bits to play the game :(
Isn't there any 32 bits version?
you're on 32 bit windows? what are your specs?
Processor: intel(R) core(TM) i5 CPU 650 @ 3.2.0GHz 3.33GHz
RAM: 4GB
graphics card is the most important
intel hd graphics
But I think it's because unreal engine 4 isn't supported by 32 bits devices :/
stfu you baguette skrub
I just made a video on this I love it, hope the game doesn't get taken down, good luck

Nice job!
the fall effect was in the original as well actually, it's just that he crouched for a bit instead of falling to his hands.
nice!
Espero por futuras versões para poder testar novamente o game. :)
This was a ton of fun!
Super stoked to keep up with this game :) Great work thus far!
thanks! enjoyed the vid :)
Thank you!

This is awesome a true masterpiece. Would you consider remaking Zombies Ate My Neighbors in Unreal?
Is it free
yes
cool
Great stuff, man!

yeah the whipping is still a work in progress, even though i've poured probably 30-40 hours of work into it....
please what is requirements for play that game in windows ??
download, unzip, and play
Hi! I'm producer. I would like colabore with you in this proyect doing the music. Please advise me if you are interested. Thank you! ;)
PD: Here is an example that I was doing a lot of years ago: https://soundcloud.com/trickmaster/metal-gear-recreated-trickmaster
I start the game and it gives all these Oculus popups for SteamVR and if I close those windows the game itself quits. Can't even play the game.
rgr i'll look into it during the weekend. you have an oculus rift, right?
hmm, i looked at it and i couldn't find any way of turning off VR functionality in unreal.
i'll take another look next weekend.
I am 3d artist, maybe we can work together it would be fun to make a character here and there
that's nice, i could certainly need some help.
ok cool what is best way to contact you?
try my email dejawolfs _at gmail _dot _com. you can also try skype "raino sommer" or steam "dejawolf"

NÃO compativel com controle do xbox 360 ?
should have better compatibility with xbox controller now.
excellent works.......sorry but my xbox360 pad work badly is only my problem?
the problem is i didn't do any setup for the xbox controller. i'll have a look at it next weekend.
thanks i waiting for it
new version should have better support for xb controller.
Amazing! Really cool work! Is the full game? What's the possibility of you do something like that with Symphony of The Night?
it's currently only 1 and a half levels. with the current development speed, i probably won't have time for a SOTN remake in the next 5-10 years.
Fantastic work.
Amazing, can you make the symphony of the night remake ??
i can, the issue is just time, and being only a single person working during weekends. with proper funding and a team though...
If you kickstarted that I'm sure it would get funded. SOTN is one of the most beloved castlevania games and people are hungry for more. I would personally contribute as much as I could.
it is kickstarted, but i got several people saying i'm probably gonna end up being DMCA'd by konami, even though it's a kickstarter for the license
doen't run very well on my potato ,audio is stuttering
yeah, i might have to make a version for potatoes
awesome!
Wow ,this is a nice surprise to wake up to :)
Downloading now.

:) yeah i was trying to go for the feel of the old game, with the graphics on the level of the covers you usually saw in those days.
Amazing!
i'll look into it, and a mac version
I would love to play it on mac :(
